What is language to me? The way we as human beings communicate not only through words but by symbols and signs and movements and pictures and everything. Language has changed through out time, and now we as a whole society understand more than before or maybe differently? i don't know, because now we use such things as smiley faces and signs that before were not there, like before in the renaissance they didn't have them but probably they understood the same things we now do but in different way? Maybe.
Language is not only words and speech is also everything we think and how we portray it to other people, every single small thing we share, is language. When we paint as artists we communicate something and that is a form of language. Everything is language. A small thing such as coughing (as said in class) you communicate that you are sick or you feel something in your throat or you want to call someones attention or something. Anyway you are always communicating something whether you are thinking about it or not.
Language.. Mm we rarely think about it right? Because we take it for granted, as something that has been there always and always will be? Just another way of knowing.
It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality is more important than the feeling for pictures. Vincent Van Gogh
